Zikhale engages Nkhatabay Chiefs urging them to take lead in voter registration mobilisation

Member of Parliament for Nkhata-bay South constituency Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma has called for unity amongst the chiefs in Nkhata-bay and Likoma for the two districts to have  meaningful development.

Ng’oma who is also a  Homeland Security minister was speaking on Sunday at Chatonda Lodge in Nkhata-bay during a meeting that involved over 20 traditional Authorities drawn from Nkhata-bay and Likoma district.


According to Ng’oma, traditional leaders are important in fostering development of the country,hence the need for chiefs in Nkhata-bay and Likoma to join hands in achieving the same.

Ng’oma further urged to take a leading role in ensuring that more people register in the voters registration currently underway in Nkhata-bay and Likoma districts.

” I decided to invite chiefs from Nkhata-bay and Likoma districts to discuss issues  boarding development of the two districts, so the meeting has been fruitful as we have mapped the way forward in regards to various developmental projects that are in these districts.

Through this meeting,we have also looked into strategies that can help people to get proper information as regards the on-going voters registration as you are aware that I have been conducting whistle stops here in the district just to ensure that information about registration reaches every corner of my constituency and the district as a whole,” He explained.

On his part, Traditional Authority Mbwana described the meeting as an eye opener in different aspects of development.

The chief then expressed gratitude to the Minister for taking a board  step in raising awareness towards voter registration exercise.

On the other hand, Traditional Authority Mndolo concurred with Chief Mbwana saying that the whistle stop which Ng’oma has been conducting is bearing good results as  people are registering in large numbers.

Meanwhile, Ng’oma has pledged to donate a boat to ease mobility challenges for the people of Usiska.
